File the Will and Initiate Probate

As executor, you must file the will with the appropriate state probate court and petition the court for “letters testamentary.” These court documents may also be called “letters of administration,” but by any name, they prove that you are the executor of the estate. Get several certified copies of these court documents for use throughout the settlement process.
