Safeguard documents

• Keep documents you need in a secure place, such as in a safe deposit box or a locked fireproof file at home.
• Cancel unused credit cards and shred credit card solicitations.
• Limit the amount of identification and the number of credit cards you carry.
• Conduct personal business (shopping, managing accounts) only on secure Web sites.
• Don't put mail with checks or account numbers in an unsecured mailbox. It’s best to post all your mail at official blue U.S. Postal Service collection boxes. If you have an "open" mailbox, pick up your mail promptly. Don't leave mail in your mailbox overnight or on weekends.
