Prepaid Education Programs & Savings Plans
Many states have education savings programs that assist parents or children in saving for college. For example, Virginia has a college savings plan that is available to anyone in the U.S. With the Virginia Education Saving Trust (VEST), students of all ages can save for their college costs, including tuition, fees, room and board, textbooks, and computers. Participants can make an initial selection from among seven different investment portfolios. An account can be opened with as little as $25, and a savings plan can be tailored to suit the participant’s budget and timetable.
Students of any age can use VEST benefits at colleges and universities nationwide and, in certain cases, at schools all around the world. A VEST account can be opened from any state in the U.S. For more information, call 1-888-567-0540 or visit the Web site at www.virginia529.com.
